Steel vs. Wood
These photos are from two different homes, in the same subdivision. Both
homes are approximately three years old. The photos on the
left are from a wood framed home. The photos on the right are
from a steel framed home. The wood framed home shows severe
cracking due to a "truss uplift" problem with the wood
framed trusses. This particular problem has been "repaired"
three times in three years and has reappeared after each repair. The
builder has "done all he can" to remedy the problem and
no longer returns the owners calls. The builders final response..."You
just got a bad batch of trusses".
Remember, steel framing does not twist, warp, or dry out. It
does not absorb moisture. It is machined straight and true. With
proper installation, you should never have to see problems like
this or ever have to hear about a bad batch of trusses.
