Steel Homes by Design was started in 2003 with the intent to bring the benefits of custom construction and light gauge metal framing systems to the local residential industry. SHBD builds homes out of both wood and metal framing systems. In addition to our wood homes, we have completed many metal-framed homes in the past several years. Our steel framing systems are backed by over 45 years of steel framing experience. A quality constructed wood home and a metal framed home are indistinguishable from the outside – but steel is simply a superior building product. All of our homes are Energy Star certified with the highest levels of craftsmanship employed in all phases of the home construction.

Prices of Steel Framing materials have recently risen to the point where we can no longer provide steel framed homes at the cost of wood framed homes. Steel provides many benefits over wood, and should you decide it may be worth the extra cost to you, we'd be happy to build your home from steel.
